Vietnam urges speedy power projects implementation
Vietnam's Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to speed up the planning and licensing of power projects. He also emphasied that projects with private investments be prioritised.
Mr. Hai also requested the Ministry of Finance to propose measures to deal with projects facing problems related to capital, resettlement, and compensation.
According to reports presented at the meeting, the development planning and construction is being implemented on schedule. The Hai Phong 1 and Cam Pha 1 thermal power plants will start generating electricity by the second quarter of 2011.
However, there are still problems slowing down progress rate of some projects such as contractors’ labour shortages and difficulties in site clearance and resettlement.
