Vietnam commits to IAEA on nuclear safety
Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang had approved the supplementary protocol and necessary documents to join the IAEA’s Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.
This was announced by Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan at the 56th annual session of the International Atomic Energy Agency general assembly in Vienna, Austria.
He emphasized that Vietnam supports and implements the IAEA’s action plan on nuclear safety.
Regarding the country’s nuclear power issue, the minister said that Vietnam has been exerting every effort to implement its nuclear power projects in accordance with IAEA’s regulations on nuclear safety.
Currently, feasibility studies are being conducted for the country’s two nuclear power plants with cooperation from Russia and Japan, said Quan.
On the same event, Minister Quan also held separate bilateral talks with Japan, France and Russia on nuclear cooperation.
