TNB's capital expenditure may reach $2.07 B in 2013
TNB’s capital expenditure could peak up to US$2.07 billion 2013 as additional funds will be needed to complete its three new power plants.
For the meantime it will remain between US$1.34 billion and US$1.43 billion for fiscal years ending Aug 31, 2011 and 2012.
President and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh said TNB's three new power plant projects located in Ulu Jelai, Pahang, Hulu Terengganu and Jana Manjung in Perak were currently at the preliminary stage of development and hence did not require much funds for now.
But at the advanced stages of development of the power plants in 2013, more funds will be required.
The US$670 million Ulu Jelai and US$510 million Hulu Terengganu plants would generate 372MW and 250MW of electricity respectively.
Construction of both hydro plants has begun, while the coal-fired plant in Jana Manjung, which is now undergoing expansion, is expected to generate 1,000MW when completed by 2015.
TNB's capex should peak in 2013 as more funds will be required when the power plant projects near completion.
