India mulls removing wind tender ceiling tariffs: report
The tariffs may not be imposed on the 10th tranche of tenders, sources said.
India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) eyes removing ceiling tariffs on wind tenders, according to a report by The Economic Times, citing sources close to the development.
Developers have been protesting against ceiling tariffs as they are too low and restricting auction participation.
A source told the newspaper that these ceiling tariffs could be stopped from the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) 10th tranche of wind auctions. Other sources also said that removing the ceiling tariffs for solar tenders could be likely as well.
SECI’s ninth tranche of wind tenders has been postponed five times due to weak developer response.
