EVN estimates vnd3.5tln loss in 2011
Vietnam Electricity Group estimates it suffered a VND3.5 trillion loss in 2011.
This was announced by Pham Le Thanh, general director of EVN, at the group’s conference on 2011 review
and 2012 plans held in Hanoi.
According to Thanh, the figure is much lower than the group earlier’s estimated loss of VND11 trillion as EVN had taken a number of solutions to reduce the operation costs.
In 2011, EVN had produced and purchased a total of 106.33 billion Kwh of electricity, meeting 96% of the year plan and up 9.24% from 2010. Of which, electricity production capacity accounted for 44.7% with 47.54 billion kwh and the purchase of electricity was 58.79 billion Kwh.
The group’s commercial electricity reached 94.04 billion Kwh in 2011, meeting 95.8% the year target and up 9.74% from a year earlier. In which, domestic commercial electricity was estimated at 92.616 billion Kwh, an increase of 9.59% from 2010.
According to Than, the commercial electricity growth was gradually slow down in the end of 2011 because many sectors and companies cut down production due to high input costs, low consumption, large inventories, especially in steel, cement, construction materials sectors.
