6 countries eye nuclear power projects in Vietnam
At least six countries want to build nuclear power plants in Vietnam.
U.S. Ambassador to the IAEA and the UN Glyn Davies said that there is a competition among at least 6 countries to build modern nuclear power plants in Vietnam with the best, latest and most modern technologies. He added that Vietnam was leading in ASEAN in developing nuclear energy with advanced outlooks and strong commitment on the principles of safety and security. He affirmed that the U.S. wanted to cooperate with Vietnam in nuclear trade.
Before the US, Russia and Japan have reached agreements on the construction of nuclear power plant No. 1 and No. 2 in Vietnam, but Davies said the US did not worry about backwardness and believed in the prospects of cooperation between the two countries.
“Vietnam has advanced views on nuclear energy development while the U.S. is a country with much experience in this field, so I believe the cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened", stressed Mr. Davies.
