Vietnam promotes industrial energy efficiency
Vietnam aims to promote industrial energy efficiency through steam and compressed air system optimization and adoption of energy management standards - ISO 50,001.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam is also looking forward to the technical assistance from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation – UNIDO and financial grant from the Global Environment Fund.
At the global level, the Project will contribute to the GHG emission reduction by over 324,000 tons of CO2 emission. The country will save 308,000 MWh units of electricity and 40,000 tons oil equivalent of fossil fuel during the ten years of project influenced period, from 2011 to 2020.
The Project will increase the competitiveness of national enterprises as the result of reduced energy costs and cause less local pollution and impact on the environment.
The Project will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and UNIDO over the duration from July 2011 – December 2014. The key beneficiaries of the Project are industrial enterprises in four sub-sectors: pulp and paper, textile, food and rubber.
