Philippine feed-in tariff rules being readied for revision
The Philippine feed-in tariff rules issued in July 2010 is being prepared for revision by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
ERC is still seeking comments inputs and suggestions from industry stakeholders to a possible revision of the FIT rules.
Among the possible revision include the use of a competitive bidding process for the FIT rates.
ERC said Sen. Sergio Osmeña recently suggested that instead of using the cost-based methodology as outlined in Section 5 of the FIT rules, the ERC may use a competitive bidding process to ensure lower FIT rates.
Another possible revision, ERC said, is the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines's role assettlement agent.
ERC said the legality of NGCP as the settlement agent for the FITs is in question since the FIT-All fund is a public fund and should not be left to the administration of a private entity.
