Minintod Main Intake Substation officialy opens
With the 132kV Minintod Main Intake Substation (PMU) in full operation since November 9, 2011, the surroundingareas have now enjoyed better and stable electricity supply.
The PMU is providing electricity to the surrounding areas of Minintod, Inanam and Penampang.
Former Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd and Tenaga Nasional Berhad president-cum-chief executive officer Dato’ Sri CheKhalib Mohamad Noh was given the honour to officially declare open the RM50 million PMU.
The Minintod PMU has created some sort of history in a way that it was the first PMU in Malaysia to be built using the latest technology – the Substation Communication Protocol System IEC61850, in addition to it takingthe longest period to complete, some five years after the project started in 2006.
“Some 35,000 to 40,000 people in the Penampang district will benefit from this PMU, especially about 1,000 consumers residing in the Minintod and Inanam areas,” said SESB managing director Ir Haji Abd Razak Sallim.
The Minintod PMU is very important in the power distribution and supply in view of the increase in demand ofelectricity which has exceeded the maximum capacity of existing PMUs. It also provided an extra distribution power line and can accommodate load growth in the areas mentioned or help to stabilise power generation in case of outages involving other PMUs.
