Sri Lanka's electricty consumers will receive the opportunity of having free electricity for one month by reducing their electricity bills by 20 percent.
Sri Lanka's Power and Energy Ministry launched the programme whereby 4.6 million domestic electricity consumers can participate.
Called the ‘Today for Tomorrow’ national programme, this was conducted in collaboration with the Ceylon Electricity Board and Lanka Electricity Company.
Those who have a reduced electricity bill by 20 percent will receive free electricity for one month, while those who have their bill reduced by 10 percent will receive a 50 percent discount in the next bill, a ministry release said.
One thousand winners in the first category and 5,000 winners in the second category will be eligible for this bonanza of getting free electricity and 50 percent discount on bill selected by a draw. The concession will be valid only for April, May and June.
