KESCO launches mobile-based tracking system of in-field revenue enhancement activities
Kanpur Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (KESCO) has introduced a slew of initiatives aimed at enhancing revenue realization and improving consumer satisfaction.
The company has launched an end-to-end mobile-based real time tracking system - M-DRISHTI - of in-field revenue oriented activities of raids, meter replacement and disconnections.
The unique solution is aimed at reducing the high ATC losses, which in KESCO were running at as high as 29% as of March 2011.
KESCO MD Ritu Maheshwari has said that the "M- Drishti scheme has been launched to solve Problems of lack of bill advice for meter change, and assessment in raid cases and its regularization online".
Earlier, the distribution utility had no end-to-end tracking of thefts , raids and subsequent revenue assessment or realization. Even for billed but non-paying consumers, there was no record of disconnections and subsequent action.
The new system provides real time information on daily replacements. Similarly real time information is logged on disconnections and raids.
Among its best practices, KESCO has introduced the first IVR (interactive voice response) based initiative in the country to provide free information about power cuts, shutdown and restoration to consumers through voice calls and sms.
8Others include a web interface for online bill payments and complaints, SMS bill updates, and a 24x7 consumer call center.
