India's industrial corridor runs out of gas for power plants
The Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor has run out of gas for its gas-based power plants.
The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Pulok Chatterjee, is asking the petroleum ministry why 8 mmscmd of gas was not allocated "at a reasonable price" to the DMIC's power plants.
The petroleum ministry has replied back, saying it is not to blame.
The Empowered Group of Ministers couldnot make any allocations since no domestic gas is available.
The Japanese funded DIMC is meant transform the industrial face of India by linking two of the countries largest cities through a series of world class industrial hubs. The hubs were meant to be fired by gas-based power plants.
