Delhi electricity bills to increase with 7% fuel surcharge hike
Power bills in New Delhi will incraese even more as the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission announced a second fuel adjustment surcharge payable to discoms.
The state commission has allowed BSES Yamuna Power Limited a hike of 7 percent in the variable component of its power tariff, as against 9.23 percent sought by the utility on account of the FPA surcharge. The utility supplies to residents of the trans-Yamuna area of Delhi. The authority has also approved an FPA of 4 percent to Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, as against 4.67 percent proposed by the company for its consumers in North Delhi.
As far as residents of North and West Delhi are concerned, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited will charge them a 6 percent FPA surcharge. This surcharge will be applicable only on the energy consumed during the period May 1 - July 31, 2012.
State power distribution companies have pleaded the commission to increase the power tariff charged in the state on account of the rising power purchase cost.
