Commissioning of 412 MW Rampur HEP may be postponed
SJVN ight have to postpone the commissioning of its critical 412 MW Rampur hydro-electric project.
One of SJVN's key concerns is the supply of five types of equipments -- butterfly valve, main inlet valve, hard coated runners, generator transformers and gas insulated switchyard -- to the project site.
The power utility fears that any possible delay in provision or erection of these equipments would adversely impact the commissioning schedule of the hydel project.
On this troublesome issue, an official from BHEL has stated that the fault lies with the project developer and not the equipment major.
The civil works, including EOT cranes which have to be provided in order to set up the equipment at the project site, were amply delayed by SJVN. The equipment major, therefore, cannot commence with the erection of equipment without prior completion of civil works, the BHEL official added.
Besides this, SJVN has been trying to resolve a slew of other issues, including unavailability of essential tools, that have marred the progress of the project to a large extent.
