Chhattisgarh 1,320 MW thermal plant gets environmental clearance
India's Ministry of Environment and Forests has awarded environmental clearance for Chhattisgarh Power Limited's 2x660 MW thermal power plant in Chhattisgarh.
It is being developed by IFFCO.
Out of the total project cost of Rs 5,093 crore, an amount of Rs 20.16 crore has been earmarked as one time capital cost for corporate social responsibility program. Subsequently, a recurring expenditure of Rs 4.03 crore per annum has been allocated for these activities. According to the ministry, the CSR scheme will be identified on need based assessment in villages located within 5 km of the project site.
The environment ministry has stated that substantial efforts need to be put in by the project developer to ensure that all stipulated conditions are carried out to Ministry of Environment and Forests' satisfaction.
In the absence of compliance of environmental status, the clearance will be revoked. In addition to this, the MoEF has specified that a fresh reference needs to be made to the ministry in case of any deviation in the project proposal.
