Bangladesh Becomes UN Partner on Energy for All
Bangladesh has become the partner of UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon’s initiative styled “Sustainable Energy for all”.
UN chief’s special envoy and senior adviser to the initiative Luis Gomes formally informed Bangladesh’s inclusion to this initiative to the Environment and Forest Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud when he called on him at the latter’s office recently.
In a written statement, Ban Ki Moon said, the main objective of the initiative is to protect the world from pollution, poverty and ensure economic development.
The minister thanked the UN chief through his special envoy for Bangladesh’s inclusion to his initiative, saying unplanned energy management forcing the world towards the risk created due to climate change gradually.
Dr Hasan accused the developed countries for generating additional power causing global warming that accelerating the climate change related threat to the people who are living under the poverty level.
He said renewable energy would be the driving force of all development in the coming days and the UN chief’s this initiative would play an effective role for making the world better living for the next generation.
