Zenith, Liontown to build Australia’s largest off-grid RE hybrid power station

It has a capacity of 95 megawatts

Liontown Resouces partnered with Zenith Energy to build and operate the largest off-grid renewable energy hybrid power station in Australia with a total capacity of 95 megawatts (MW).

In a statement, Zenith said it received a Letter of Award from Liontown to build, own, and operate the hybrid project which is coomposed of 30MW of wind capacity, 16MW-peak fixed axis solar photovoltaic array, and 17MW/19MW-hour of battery energy storage system.

The station, which will be located at Liontown’s Kathleen Valley Project at Western Australia’s Goldfields-Esperance region, will deliver 100% renewable energy generation to the Project as its thermal components wil operate in “engine off” mode at various times.

Zenith said the project will enable Liontown to meet tas renewable energy factor target of 60% at “Project start-up and beyond.”

Zenith and Liontown are finalising arrangements for the power station under a long-term build, own, and operate power purchase agreement.
