Vanda RE Pte Ltd, a joint venture company majority- owned by Gurīn Energy, has been awarded a conditional licence by the Energy Market Authority (EMA) to supply energy from its utility-scale solar and battery project to Singapore.

In a statement, the company said its Vanda Solar & Battery Project has a planned capacity of 2,000 megawatts (MW) of solar and 4,400 megawatt-hours of battery storage. Once operational in 2028, the project will supply Singapore with 300 MW of energy to power 390,000 households annually.

The company said the licence was granted “in recognition of the technical and commercial viability of Vanda’s export project as well as its demonstrated ability to meet the requirements of both Indonesia and Singapore.”

Vanda RE received conditional approval from the EMA in 2023.

The Vanda Solar & Battery Project is part of a joint plan by the Indonesian and Singaporean governments to establish a green electricity trading corridor between the two countries.
