Two Indonesian geothermal plants to go online by March
Up to 180MW in capacity will be added to the grid.
After months of delay, three new geothermal plants in Indonesia are finally expected to go online this March, ThinkGeoEnergy reports.
The 55MW Lumut Balai plant and the 40MW Sorik Marapi plant will start feeding electricity to the grid in two months. Both plants were originally slated to commence operations in late 2018, but were delayed due to construction issues.
Meanwhile, the 5MW Sokoria geothermal plant is expected to come online in the second half of 2019. It was also originally scheduled to start operating last year.
A project in West Sumatra, the 80MW Muara Laboh plant, is currently under construction and can produce 80MW of power. Taken together, the four projects will add up to 180MW of capacity to the grid.
