Tohoku Electric Power joins 700MW Akita Yurihonjo offshore wind project
The project is slated to start in 2021.
Japanese electric services firm Tohoku Electric Power has participated as a new joint investor in Akita Yurihonjo Offshore Wind GK, an announcement by renewable energy developer and power producer RENOVA Inc. revealed.
The Akita Yurihonjo Offshore Wind Power Generation Project is planned to have a power generating capacity of approximately 700MW, making it one of the largest offshore wind farms in Japan.
Tohoku Electric Power will be joining the project sponsors RENOVA, Eco Power and JR - EAST Energy Development.
RENOVA is said to be engaging in dialogues with local residents, fishermen and other local industries, whilst at the same time conducting environmental impact assessments and various other surveys.
The project is slated to start in FY2021, whilst its sequential operational commencement is scheduled for FY2024 onwards.
