South Korean PV cells for Japan’s largest PV project

Hanwha Q CELLS to equip 82 MW PV plant in Oita.

South Korean PV cell maker Hanwha Q CELLS has already begun shipment of its modules for the project in the coastal industrial area of Oita.

The project is being implemented by Marubeni Corporation and is expected to have an annual output of around 87,000,000 kWh. Power generated from the plant will be sold to Kyushu Electric Power Company under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Since the launch of its feed-in tariff last year, Japan’s solar market has been booming and is forecast to be the world’s largest in 2013.
