Sekong and Saravane power grid installation kicks off
Thirty villages will benefit from 115-KV power grid from Sekhaman 3 power plant to Sekong and Saravane.
A ceremony to mark the beginning of the installation of a 115-KV power grid was held at Nongbok village, Lamam District, Sekong Province, according to the KPL Lao News Agency.
Commenced on the fifth of November, the installation has been achieved by 30 per cent. Electricite du Laos is the project owner and the Consortium of SCI Electric Manufacturer and TOKYO Denki Group are contractors for the project.
The project is financed with a loan of US$ 35.5 million from the Krung Thai Bank. The installation is estimated to take two years or complete in November 2012.
The project also includes the expansion of two power stations in Saravane and Sekong.
Present at the opening ceremony were Governor of Sekong, Col. Khampheui Bouthdavieng, Deputy Director of Electricite du Laos, Mr. Boun-Oume Sivanpheng, Party members of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, EDL staff and representatives from contractor company and relevant officials from Saravane and Sekong.
