PTT Chemical & GE agree to support gas turbine reliability
The long-term reliability of GE gas turbines at PTT Chemical's Map Ta Phut site will be ensured with the inking of a service agreement between the two companies.
The contractual service agreement (CSA) covers three GE Frame 5 gas turbines and six Frame 6 gas turbines at the said site. The CSA will aid PTT Chemical, Thailand's largest chemical producer and a regional leader in the petrochemical industry, in managing its gas turbine maintenance program in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province for the next 13 years.
PTT Chemical president and CEO Veerasak Kositpaisal said, "Through this agreement, GE will provide maintenance services which will help ensure the continuing reliability and efficiency of the gas turbines, which is critical in enabling us to maintain our petrochemical production schedule." The maintenance budget of PTT Chemical will also be effectively managed with the help of the CSA, added Kositpaisal.
Kovit Kantapasara, GE Energy country executive for Thailand and Indochina, said, "While we have received equipment orders from PTT Chemical in the past, this marks our first CSA with the company."
The service agreement provides performance guarantees and covers the supply of parts, repairs and field services for planned and unplanned outages for gas turbine-generators and accessory equipment onsite.
