More foreign firms are taking interest as the project, tagged as the largest single-contract geothermal power project to date comes operational by 2015, said a member of the consortium.
In an exclusive interview with Asian Power, Medco Energi Fazil E. Alfitri disclosed that First Gen Corp and RP’s largest geothermal energy producer Energy Development Corp are among foreign firms keen to do partnership in building Sarulla Geothermal Power Plant.
“The consortium is currently in talks with the two firms from the Philippines but negotiations aren’t final yet,” said Mr Alfitri but refused to discuss further.
The Sarulla Geothermal Power Plant will have an installed capacity of 330MW which will be constructed in three phases of 110MW each .
According to Mr Alfitri, financing of the project is almost done and the first phase of the drilling have already started. Another drilling, he said is scheduled a year from now.
