Pacific Green gets planning consent for 1.5GWh battery energy parks in Australia

The South Australian government has granted Pacific Green a planning consent for the company’s grid-scale battery energy parks that aim to strengthen grid stability in the Limestone Coast region.

In a statement, the company said the Limestone Coast Energy Park assets will consist of a 0.5 gigawatt/1.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) battery energy storage system developed and constructed in two phases over the next 36 months.

Construction will begin towards the end of 2024, with the first phase expected to be operational in the second half of 2026.

Pacific Green said Limestone Coast Energy Parks are the first from its 8.5GWh development pipeline of battery energy storage parks the company is rolling out in Australia.
