Japan’s Taketoyo coal plant unit starts operations

It has a generating capacity of 1,070MW.

The 1,070-megawatt Taketoyo Thermal Power Station Unit 5 has started operations, JERA said in a statement on 5 August.

Located in Aichi Prefecture, the unit is a “high-efficiency coal-fired power station that uses an ultra-supercritical power generation system.

It also co-fires woody biomass fuel which helps reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to lessen environmental impact, JERA said.
