Japanese PV module shipments jump 304%
Total PV sales by Japanese companies also rise.
The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association said total module shipments from Japanese companies in the first quarter of the 2013 financial year rose 304% year-on-year to 1,664 MW.
Of this total, 1,654 MW went to the domestic market while 9,960 kW or 0.6% of the total was exported. Total sales of PV cells by Japanese companies amounted to 579.3 MW or an increase of 149.4%, of which 554 MW were shipped within Japanb and only 25.3 MW exported.
By product type, 592.5 MW of monocrystalline silicon cells were shipped, an on-year improvement of 244.9% while polycrystalline cells shipments came to 885.8 MW, a huge 444.5% increase on-year. Thin-film and other shipments came to 185.6 MW.
