Japan to triple Fukushima Prefecture's wind power generation

It will be raised to 360 MW capacity in FY 2024.

The Japanese industry ministry has revealed its plans to boost wind power generation in the Fukushima Prefecture by threefold to 360 MW in FY 2024.

Fukushima and the national governments would erect an industrial complex run fully by renewable energy sourced within the prefecture by FY 2030.

According to reports, the government would provide financing to build 30 km out of the overall 80 km of the grid that would supply electricity in the prefecture.

Further, the plan coined the use of renewable energy as “a pillar” in the efforts to bolster the recovery of the prefecture following the nuclear accident in March 2011.

Meanwhile, all 10 nuclear reactors within the prefecture would be decommissioned.
