Japan eyes 600MW of renewable energy projects in Fukushima: report
Costs are expected to hit $2.75b.
Japan’s Fukushima prefecture seeks to move forward from its nuclear history by developing 11 solar power plants and 10 wind power plants on unusable farmland, according to an exclusive Nikkei report.
Costs are expected to hit $2.75b until March 2024. The report added that the Development Bank of Japan and Mizuho Bank are amongst the group of financiers looking to support the projects with a line of credit.
Overall capacity of the projects is expected to hit 600MW, to be sent to Tokyo’s metropolitan area. To support interconnection, an 80km wide grid worth $266.48m is expected to be built to connect the power plants to TEPCO’s transmission network.
