Indonesia’s PLN to support electricity ecosystem development in Tanzania

Tanzania’s electricity firm will carry PLN’s business transformation model.

Indonesia-based PT PLN (Persero) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Tanzania Electric Supply Co. Ltd. (TANESCO) to collaborate on the development of the electricity sector in the African nation.

Under the MOU, PT PLN said its business transformation model will be adopted by TANESCO. It was signed by PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo and TANESCO Managing Director Maharage Chande.

The agreement also outlines four key collaboration areas which include the joint effort in adopting technology and innovation to improve efficiency and reliability in power supply services such as digitalised power plant, digitally-enabled distribution excellence, and Super App utility.

It also highlighted collaboration on core utility business development such as maintenance, repair, and operation, and co-investment, as well as non-core utility businesses.

The two parties will also work together on capacity building and comprehensive exchange through an internship programme between the companies for knowledge transfer and skill development.
