Gestamp Solar to develop 300MW power plants in Japan

With emphasis on rooftop projects, Gestamp Solar intends to develop 300MW of solar power projects in Japan over three years.

Gestamp sees Japan as a good environment and is one of the group's priority markets, according to Jorge Barredo, CEO of Gestamp Solar.

The company also announced that it intends to develop its projects by mainly using Japanese panels.

“Japanese panels fit Japanese culture and we want to have businesses with local suppliers,” Barredo said.

As part of the 300MW, Gestamp Solar aims to develop at least 30MW of solar on rooftops with Japan’s Environmental Management Strategy Research Institute.

The company is forecasting an investment of US$1.5 billion at US$5,000 per kilowatt, according to Jorge Barredo, CEO of Gestamp Solar.
