German solar power experts to assist Philippine projects
Delegation from seven German companies to visit Manila.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry said the German companies will visit for the 2German Solar Training Week from September 23-27.
The German firms aim to build capacity within their partner companies and educate other stakeholders such as the Department of Energy on solar solutions for the on-grid and off-grid areas. GIZ said the visit comes at a time when the Philippine solar market is expected to grow with the release of the feed-in-tariffs and the net metering rules.
It said the local solar industry is experiencing growing demand in the residential and commercial rooftop segment and in the integration of photovoltaics in island grids and for off-grid resorts.
It noted that solar energy is becoming available to many Philippine households and is developing into a key pillar of the future Philippine energy system. GIZ is a state-owned agency facilitating the exchange of technology and tie-ups between German firms and foreign enterprises.
