Gamesa wins wind turbine contract in the Philippines
It’s Gamesa’s first Philippine contract.
Spain’s Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica will supply 27 turbines for the 54 MW San Lorenzo wind farm on Guimaras Island. The island is located in the Panay Gulf, between the islands of Panay and Negros in the Visayas region.
The contract with Japan’s Kanematsu Corporation, which is developing the project for Trans Asia Renewable Energy, is Gamesa’s first project in the Philippines.
Gamesa will handle supply, assembly and commissioning of the G90 2 MW turbines and maintain the wind farm for six years with an option for renewal. Deliveries are to be made in 2014. The project is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of 2014.
The Philippines had a cumulative installed wind capacity of 33 MW in 2011 and is expected to install 200 MW by 2015.
Gamesa is a Spanish manufacturing company principally involved in the fabrication of wind turbines. Its headquarters is located in Zamudio.
