First Gen secures approval for Mindanao hydropower projects
Five projects have a combined capacity of 80 MW.
First Gen Mindanao Hydro Power, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Gen Corporation, received government approval from the Department of Energy.
First Gen Corporation is the leading clean and renewable energy company in the Philippines with an installed capacity of 2,763 MW.
The five hydro projects include the 8 MW Tumalaong hydro plant; the 8 MW Bubunawan hydro project and the 20 MW Tagoloan hydro project in Bukidnon province, and the14 MW Cabadbaran hydropower plant and the 30 MW Puyo hydropower plant in Agusan del Norte province.
FirstGen also plans to invest US$120 million for the Puyo hydro plant in Agusan del Norte US$100 million for the Bubunawan hydro project and an additional US$40 million for the 10 MW Cabadbaran hydro project in Agusan del Norte. These projects are scheduled for construction within 2013.
