EGCO’s Khanom Power Plant to become operational in June 2016
Holds cornerstone laying ceremony.
Khanom Electricity Generating Co., Ltd said the cornerstone laying marked the first milestone in the construction of its Khanom Power Plant Project. The new 930 MW Khanom Power Plant Project (Unit 4) is located at Khanom District, Nakorn Sri Thammarat Province.
Khanom Electricity is a subsidiary of Thailand’s Electricity Generating Public Company Ltd (EGCO Group). EGCO is a holding company with investments in power generation and supply. It is Thailand’s first independent power producer.
Unit 4 will be located at a site adjacent to the existing Khanom power plant. Its commercial operation date is scheduled for June 2016.
The project is a cogeneration power plant that will use natural gas as its primary fuel to generate electricity. Khanom Electricity’s PPA with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand has a term of 25 years.
Unit 4 will replace the existing Khanom power plant, which is in accordance with Thailand Power Development Plan or the PDP2010: Revision 3.
