Bakrie Power to build 200MW thermal plant in East Kalimantan
Bakrie Power revealed oans to build a 200MW power plant in East Kalimantan, Indonesia at US$340 million.
Ali Herman, Bakrie Power president director, said the development would be located near the Sangatta coal mines in East Kutai district, reports Jakarta Globe.
It wil take four years to complete.
"The real demand for electricity for East Kalimantan province is currently 500MW and by 2013 it will increase to 600MW and by 2020 to 1,100MW," Herman said.
The plant will receive low rank coal from Sangatta mines owned by Kaltim Prima Coal, a subsidiary of the world's largest thermal coal exporter, Bumi Resources, which is also a Bakrie company.
Development plans have now been submitted to the local authorities for approval. The facility will need around 2,000 workers during its 36 month construction time.
