Bahrain to develop 72 MW solar project

The Government of Bahrain will be developing 72 megawatts solar power plant project in Sakhir to support the country’s net-zero goals by 2060, according to a report by the state’s news agency.

The Bahrain News Agency said Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidain affirmed the signing of agreements for the project.

It added that the project is a multi-site project comprising rooftop, ground-mounted, car park solar power systems and electric vehicle charging stations at the Bahrain International Circuit, University of Bahrain, Exhibition World Bahrain, and Al Dan Amphitheatre.

The minister said that the project is part of the country’s National Renewable Energy Action Plan. He added that this would support sustainable economic development and will address climate change challenges.
