Alsons to put up 8 hydro, 2 coal-fired plants is southern Philippines
Eight hydroelectric power plants will be put up by Alsons Energy in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
In an application with the Department of Energy, Alsons said that the facilities will have a combined capacity of over 50 megawatts.
Aside from the hydro projects, Alson Energy is also putting up 200-megawatt and 100-megawatt coal plants inSarangani and Zamboanga, respectively.
The Alcantara group's generating capacity portfolio stands at 155 megawatts, mostly from diesel-fired plants.
By 2016, it aims to raise its capacity to 555 megawatts once the coal projects and the acquisition of the100-megawatt Iligan diesel plant from the government is completed.
