Alinta Energy eyes 1,000 MW of renewable projects
It seeks projects with sizes over 50 MW.
Australian energy retailer and generator, Alinta Energy, has today called for expressions of interest (EOI) for 1,000 MW of renewable projects with sizes over 50 MW. The company is looking for opportunities where an offtake partner is required or where equity opportunities exist.
The company has around 3,000 MW of owned and contracted capacity in its generation portfolio already. It also has about 1 million customers.
Alinta Energy MD & CEO Jeff Dimery noted that they are currently taking on around 2,000 customers a day. “We welcome any contact from renewable energy developers who are prepared to work with us to deliver more affordable energy to our customers,” he added.
Alinta Energy was previously rejected by AGL Energy in its A$250m bid for Liddell Power Station and cited the proposed acquisition "significantly undervalues" future cash flows.
