ACME Group, Scatec to develop green ammonia facility in Oman

The facility is expected to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.

India-based ACME Group and Norway-based Scatec signed an agreement to invest in the development and operation of a large-scale green ammonia facility in Oman.

In a statement, ACME said the first phase of the facility project, which is a 50-50 joint venture, is expected to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia yearly.

This will be expanded to 1.2 million tonnes per annum with around 3.5 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyser capacity which will be powered by 5.5GW-peak of the solar plant.

The facility will be located in the Duqm Special Economic Zone of Oman.

Overall schedule of the project is still in the works, according to ACME Group, adding that the two firms are in advanced discussion with reputable off-takers for 20 to 25-year contracts for the financing of the project which is expected to be funded through equity and project finance debt.
