ACEN has started construction of the 60-megawatt Pangasinan solar power project, expected to be completed by 2024.

The plant will supply approximately 94 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy per year. The company noted this is enough to power an estimated 55,000 households per year.

“We hit the ground running in 2023 with back-to-back projects commencing with construction here in the Philippines, and 700MW capacity expected to start operations within the next 12 months,” Jose Maria Zabaleta, chief development officer of ACEN, said.

“At ACEN, we know it’s a race against time and we need big leaps to help curtail potential power shortages and address climate change. As we aggressively scale up our clean energy generation and help the region transition to a Net Zero economy, we will continue to bolster our development arm to ensure a healthy pipeline.”

ACEN noted the project, worth P2.8b, will use ground-mounted solar PV panels. It will also be directly connected to the grid through a 2-km transmission line to the 69kV san Miguel substation of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.
