WEC in Korea drawing record enthusiasm
Chinese companies to make unprecedented turnout.
Organizers of the World Energy Congress scheduled for October 13-17 in Daegu, South Korea said China’s National Energy Administration’s decision to send a ministerial-level delegation to the event for the first time has contributed to the unexpected large turnout from Chinese energy companies.
To date, with, the Chinese delegation with its 300 registered delegates is the largest after the Korean delegation. With 166 officials and business leaders signed up as of two days ago, the Japanese delegation has already exceeded its own forecast of 150 participants.
WEC is expected to host up to 4,000 delegates from around the world. As of Sept.9, 3,443 delegates from 103 countries had registered.
Cho Hwan-eik, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said WEC gives energy ministers from around the world a rare opportunity to share their experience and swap ideas. In addition, international business leaders are able to discuss with regulators, and network in a way to explore opportunities and generates new developments.
Ninety-one companies from 23 countries will have stands at the Congress exhibition. Russia, China, and Japan, and the United Arab Emirates will be holding special events.
