WB: Rampur hydro project execution in India is unsatisfactory
The World Bank has called for regular monitoring of the critical phase of the 412MW Rampur Hydropower Project in Himachal Pradesh to avoid any slippage in physical progress.
It has advised state-run SJVN to closely implement and monitor the measures agreed under the action plan to address the gaps in environment management plan of the project.
“State Government has been requested to facilitate the prompt implementation of the remaining works on the community welfare related activities,” it says.
The Report has described the overall implementation progress of the project as “moderately unsatisfactory.”
According to the report, while SJVNL has shown improvement in implementing the gaps in the environment management plan, the acceleration of the pace of physical construction highlighted some additional
inadequacies, especially in the area of muck disposal and management at some sites, and the management of the construction site, with regards to safety aspects and management of labour camps at some sites, because of which the project ratings have been revised downwards.
