Rajasthan transmission project likely to get ADB support
ADB is proposing to extend a multi-tranche financing facility to the Government of Rajasthan.
The financing will help develop transmission infrastructure that will evacuate renewable energy in a reliable manner from private solar plants, including 250 MW Phase 1 of the Bhadla solar park in Jodhpur district, and wind power plants to be located in western Rajasthan to the national grid.
It is expected that western Rajasthan could site over 4,200 MW of solar and wind power plants including at the Bhadla solar park over the next five years.
The Rajasthan government has identified the Bhadla solar park with over 10,000 hectare in Phalodi tehsil of Jodhpur district to accommodate both solar photovoltaic power plants and concentrated solar power plants.
Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam expects over 1,700 MW of solar power and 2,500 MW of wind power to be connected to its bulk power transmission system in this region.
While some of the power will be consumed in the state by the distribution companies, a large part of this power would be wheeled to other states to support them to meet their renewable power procurement obligations.
