Pre-construction cost for Bhutan's Sankosh HEP estimated at $21.6M

Estimated amount of pre-construction works US$21.6 million for the 2,560 MW Sankosh Hydro Electric project in Bhutan have been approved by the CEA.

 

The amount has been cleared in consultation with the Central Water Commission, but the cost estimate needs to to be vetted by the Bhutanese government.

The details also state that the access roads and bridges from Indo-Bhutan border to the project sites could be entrusted to the Department of Roads, RGoB on deposit work basis.
The up-gradation of roads and bridges on the Indian side may be taken up by the Indian government.

Till the project authority for construction of the Sankosh project is formed, the Department of Hydropower and Power Systems, RGoB may enter into a pre-construction agreement with the identified consultant for the project.
