Philippines to link Visayas and Mindanao power grids
Rushing completion of feasibility study for this plan.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the proposed Leyte-Mindanao Interconnection Project will link the Mindanao power grid to the Visayas power grid and ensure stable power in both regions in southern Philippines.
The transmission line will extend from Leyte province in the Visayas to Misamis Oriental province in Mindanao via the province of Surigao, also in Mindanao.
The feasibility study for the underwater electric transmission cable is to be completed by September while the above ground transmission line study is to be finished in December.
Deadline for completing the Leyte-Mindanao Interconnection Project is December 2018.
