Philippines' Ayala Corp. pursues 135MW clean-coal power project
A subsidiary of Ayala Corporation will build a 135MW power generation plant in the Province of Iloilo at the cost P12.5 billion.
The plant will utilize the latest in clean-coal technology.
It is scheduled to operate on 2015.
The project plans are inclusive of a second 135MW plant for future development.
The plant is targeted to fill the anticipated tight power supply situation in Panay and the Visayas grids by 2015, as economic activity continues to expand in the area.
The subsidiary, AC Energy Holdings, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with A Brown Co. for the project.
With the joint venture in place, the plant is now on track to break ground within the Fourth Quarter of 2012, said A Brown vice president Roel Castro.
“A Brown has done all the preliminary work and investments over the past 2 years, and the project is already in an advanced stage of predevelopment. The engineering plans are ready, and important regulatory approvals have been secured,” said Castro.
