Philippine grid firm reinforcing Visayas network
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines is similarly lining up projects that will reinforce its Visayas networks.
Investments for its Visayas Substation Expansion 1 Project shall include the installation of a new 100-megavolt ampere transformer at its Ormoc substation in Leyte, and targeted to be energized December this year.
The others in its line-up of ventures are: The installation of a new transformer at Maasin substation in southern Leyte; and projects at pre-construction stages, such as the Ormoc-Babatngon 138-kilovolt transmission line project.
The second project, according to NGCP, delves with “the construction of a second circuit transmission line and associated high voltage equipment at the Ormoc and Maasin substations.”
The company is similarly implementing the rehabilitation of its 69-kV transmission line in the area, purposively to improve line reliability and lessen outage probabilities with the expected strike of extreme weather conditions, such as typhoons.
That initiative, according to the company, also required the replacement of some 617 wooden poles with steel-made ones.
