Myanmar to build gas-fired power plant in economic zone

Myanmar and a Japanese consortium will jointly develop a special economic zone in Yangon, which includes a gas-fired power plant.

Mitsubishi Corp, Marubeni Corp and Sumitomo Corp will team up for a 49 percent share in the 2,400-hectare estate in Thilawa.

The governmentof Myanmar will invite private domestic firms to get involved, an industry official said.
