Lowest bidder announced for Romblon power project
SUWECO was named “the lowest bidder” for a power generation facility project for Tablas Island in Romblon.
The Tablas Island Electric Cooperative Inc. (TIELCO) procurement, bids and award committee made the announcement.
SUWECO reportedly bested the offers of three other parties which joined the auction process for the proposed power project.
Their bid is a blended rate of bunker and mini-hydro, according to company president Jose Silvestre M. Natividad.
He added that the project will create “lower cost and increased power sustainability and reliability.”
The firm has proposed to construct four mini-hydro electric plants with a total capacity of 2.8 megawatts. It will be backed up by a 7.5-MW bunker-fired power facility.
TIELCO president Erwin T. Tangonan acknowledged that Tablas island is experiencing frequent power interruptions and severe load shedding due to the unreliable supply of power from NPC-SPUG’s generating plant.
